"We were pleased to partner with Rebecca and Camilla from Trauma Informed Law to deliver a four-part online training series for pro bono lawyers on trauma-informed approaches to working with vulnerable clients. Sessions covered client communication, lawyer wellbeing, expectation management, and practical adaptations for trauma-informed practice. Attendees valued the balance struck between theory, practical application and the space to ask questions, with many highlighting the ready-to-use tools: “We were given a range of phrases and practical approaches to use which was really helpful.” Feedback was consistently positive - 100% of attendees found the training practical and useful and would recommend it to colleagues. As one said, “it really helped me understand myself and my clients better.” We’re looking forward to working with Trauma Informed Law again and expanding the training to wider audiences."

"Chambers had a number of barristers involved in a very serious abuse and upsetting public law children case. It was traumatic for several reasons. The vicarious trauma training that Camilla was offering seemed perfect to help those barristers and other legal professionals involved in the case deal with what they had experienced throughout the case. The training ticked all of the boxes for those that attended. Some of the feedback received was "It was SO interesting! Lots of information to think about, and the trainers were brilliant. I am still reflecting and processing everything they said, and it has given me a lot of food for thought." I have recommended this trauma training course to other legal professionals who deal with family law, due to the vicarious trauma that those in the industry are exposed to."

“My overriding comment is that the training was fabulous, a real eye opener for some and a real reminder of the importance of self care to the rest of us....I think the biggest impact was the ability to spot trauma in ways that we might not otherwise have thought of. This was certainly something I discussed with my team after the session and everyone (independently) said the same thing. Since the training, I have definitely adopted some of the training principles into my calls with students....This approach has certainly taken a lot of my calls in a different (more positive) direction.”

"Camilla and Rebecca did a training for a number of members of chambers which was focused on vicarious trauma. They provided a really helpful framework for the discussion and the conversation that followed was brilliant. Their understanding of the profession from the inside meant they both really brought understanding and wisdom to the session. They also created a space where people were very frank about their own experiences. It was a really valuable session and one which led participants to a much greater understanding of how vicarious trauma may impact our working lives, and what to do about it."

“Camilla and Rebecca are obviously expert in their subject and communicate the science and concepts in a clear and interesting way. But what sets them apart is their extensive legal experience. They know, at first hand, the difficulties that vicarious trauma can pose to barristers, both personally and in their practice. This allows them to connect directly with, and gain the trust of, the barristers at their sessions so that they feel able to engage in the training in a full and open way. As a consequence, their training was very well received in chambers and we plan to work further with them in the future.”

"I suffered a traumatic event whereby I was assaulted at work by those who were meant to protect me. I did not know how to cope and I did not know how to deal with a lot of emotions. I had a series of six coaching sessions with Rebecca which enabled me to get through the proceeding months. She listened. She empathised. She understood. Rebecca gave me a series of coping tactics that I will take with me throughout my life. She gave me the space to exude and explore all my emotions, and she did not judge. Rebecca was extremely easy to talk to and she was always available. Even when our sessions came to an end, she was and is there."

“Camilla and Rebecca were absolutely fantastic. Their familiarity with the unique chambers environment meant they could make their content entirely relatable, capturing the imagination of our audience who are exposed to vicarious trauma on almost a daily basis. We received excellent feedback on the session and it was real food for thought.”

"You created a space where it was safe for me to express what felt right or not right in moments, allowing me to feel autonomy in sessions. There was a foundation of care and mutual respect, and the positive regard you hold for me as a client was almost palpable...[I have] a life-long gratitude for the way you have supported me these past two years to find my inner stability and softness.”
